Insurance for Volunteers Entering Ukraine

Aid work happens closer to the hard parts of the map. Cover should match — and you should know exactly where it ends.

Extended is the sensible plan here

Humanitarian routes run east of where tourists go. Injury from military action is covered in both plans, but the payout ceiling is what matters when treatment and evacuation are involved — €30,000 against €2,000.

The hard limit to plan around: the contract does not apply in areas of active hostilities, in temporarily occupied territories, within 50 km of either, or under a special access regime. Organisations working inside that band need dedicated cover arranged separately.

For NGOs sending teams

Up to ten people fit on one policy, priced per person, which makes rotating teams simple. The signed PDF doubles as the insurance line in your organisation's duty-of-care file.

Frequently asked questions

Does volunteering count as participation in hostilities?

No. Humanitarian work is civilian activity; the exclusion concerns combat roles and armed formations, not aid delivery.
