Entry requirements

Entering Ukraine as a Indian Citizen

Last updated: 2026-09-14

Visa rules for Indian citizens

Indian citizens need a visa to enter Ukraine. Students apply for a study visa (type D) through the university's invitation; short visits use the e-Visa where the current rules allow. Check the Embassy of Ukraine in New Delhi for the active procedure before booking.

Insurance requirement

Border officers may ask indian travellers for proof of medical insurance on entry. A certificate from EUROINS is issued as a PDF within minutes and is recognised at every open crossing. Given current conditions, the Extended plan with its €30,000 limit is the sensible default.

Typical entry route

With Ukrainian airspace closed, the standard route is a flight to Warsaw, Kraków or Rzeszów, then train or bus across the Polish border — direct Warsaw–Kyiv trains cross at Mostyska. Allow a full day for the land leg.

Consular contacts

Embassy of Ukraine in New Delhi: E-1/8 Vasant Vihar. Student paperwork is typically coordinated by the university's international office alongside the embassy.
